Gluckstadt approves site plan and final plat for The Oaks memory care addition

The Gluckstadt Board of Aldermen on May 12 approved a site plan amendment and final plat to allow construction of an 11,000-square-foot memory care addition to The Oaks facility.
Planning and Zoning Director Caine Dearman told the Board the addition would complement the existing building and that conditional use approval for the facility had been granted in 2025. The Architectural Review Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the proposed amendment and recommended approval.
The Board voted to approve both the site plan amendment and the final plat, which will subdivide the existing roughly five-acre parcel into three lots: one for the existing Oaks facility, one for the memory care addition, and one for future development. The motions carried unanimously.
Following the votes, the Board discussed exterior building renovations and the role of the Architectural Review Committee in reviewing exterior building and landscaping improvements. Alderman Jayce Powell requested that proposed ARC parameters and recommendations be brought back to the Board for further consideration at the June meeting.
The Board’s approval advances the memory care addition to the permitting and construction planning stages; staff and the ARC will return with design parameters and any required exterior renovation plans for Board consideration.
