Trustees adopt 2027 tax budget, approve hiring and pass a string of nuisance‑abatement resolutions

The Delhi Board of Trustees on July 15 completed routine but consequential business: trustees adopted the township’s 2027 tax budget, approved a slate of hiring motions to reach budgeted staffing levels, authorized two technology contracts and approved a long list of nuisance‑abatement and debris resolutions.
Tax budget and appropriations
Trustees introduced and adopted Resolution 2026‑70 to adopt the 2027 tax budget (citing RC 5705.28), dispensed with the second reading because of county filing deadlines and passed the resolution by roll call. Fiscal officer Luby read the motion; trustees Stearts, Seavey and Davis voted in favor during roll call.
Hiring and promotions
The board approved several part‑time firefighter/EMT hires contingent on background checks, voice‑stress analysis, pre‑employment physicals and drug testing; those hires were described in a series of motions read into the record. Trustees also approved the promotion of Michael L. Gertie to sergeant and the hiring of Sean K. Cornelius as a police officer (with five years of prior service recognized for accrual purposes).
Contracts and software
Trustees authorized Resolution 2026‑71 permitting the township administrator to execute a contract with Station Automation DBA PS TRAX for asset‑management software to track inventory, fleet and facilities. They also approved Resolution 2026‑72 to contract with ImageTrend LLC for EMS patient‑care reporting and state reporting integration.
Nuisance and abatement resolutions
Community development presented a large package of nuisance‑ and debris‑declaration resolutions (2026‑73 through 2026‑83 and related items) to send assessments to the county auditor or require abatements. Each resolution was moved, the second reading dispensed with, and the trustees approved them by roll call or voice vote as read. Addresses and resolution numbers were listed in the meeting record.
Other business and next steps
The trustees heard department updates (fire, police, public works, parks and events), accepted a $9,000 donation to the fire department and approved related appropriation adjustments (Resolution 2026‑69). At the meeting’s close trustees moved to retire to executive session to discuss personnel and property‑purchase matters.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for July 29.
