Board approves contracts and cooperative agreements including food service renewals, MSBA membership and counseling MOU

At its July 14 meeting the Fairmont Area School District board approved multiple contracts, cooperative agreements and administrative resolutions that will govern services and operations for the 2026–27 school year.
Food service: The board voted to renew a food service agreement with Tahir Incorporated for the 2026–27 school year after members praised improved food quality and higher participation. Separately, the board approved renewal of a joint food service contract for the Southern Plains Education Cooperative for 2026–27.
MSBA membership: The board approved renewal of Minnesota School Boards Association membership and policy-service fees for 2026–27 (membership fee $6,834; policy service fee $775), with members noting MSBA’s value for board training and policy updates.
Counseling services: The board renewed a memorandum of understanding with Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota to place clinicians in district schools; the superintendent and board members described the agreement as a valuable partnership that has expanded in response to demand and reduced waiting lists.
Finance and interagency agreements: The board adopted a resolution delegating authority to make electronic funds transfers to the Director of Finance and Business Management (Jessica Court) and the superintendent under Minnesota Statute §471.38, amending the effective year to 2026–27. The board also approved an interagency transportation agreement with Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties to define fiscal responsibility for transporting students placed in foster care; the agreement will be reviewed annually.
All items were adopted by motion; most passed on voice vote and several were approved by roll call where required.
