Lauderhill withholds 2027 funding for housing authority after requests for financial records go unanswered

The city manager told the commission the proposed FY2027 budget does not include funding for the Lauderhill Housing Authority because the authority has not produced requested financial statements and other documentation.
"To date we have not received any of the information that we'9ve requested," City Manager Kenny Hobbs said. "Therefore, we have not utilized them to provide the inspection services or pay them funds that they say we owe them."
Vice Mayor Campbell and other commissioners pressed staff on next steps; Hobbs said he would draft a letter asking the authority to appear before the commission with the requested records, and the mayor offered to co‑sign. Staff also said payments previously expected to the authority were withheld because the city did not receive the documentation the authority had been obligated to provide.
The commission did not vote to restore funding at the workshop. Commissioners asked staff to follow up and bring the authority to the next meeting if records are not delivered.
