Council approved Resolution 2026‑05 declaring several pieces of city equipment surplus, including an inoperable street sweeper, a disc mower and certain electrical transformers that Norris Public Power did not accept during last year’s transition.
City Administrator Kelly recommended the surplus declaration after repair quotes indicated replacement would be more cost‑effective than repair. Kelly explained that the street sweeper and disc mower would be posted for public sale (eBay advertised after a required public notice period) and that transformers could be offered municipal‑to‑municipal before other sales. If no bids are received, staff said the equipment will be scrapped.
Councilmember Wagner moved to approve the surplus declaration; Zeman seconded. The clerk conducted a roll call and the resolution was approved. Council asked about the process for low or no bids; staff confirmed the item would be re‑posted with a lower starting price or scrapped as appropriate.
Next steps: staff to post statutory notice, open sales on eBay for applicable items and document any municipal transfers. If no bids, equipment will be scrapped and removed from inventory.
