Hickman approves two‑year lease with Aging Partners for weekly senior programming

The Hickman City Council approved a two‑year lease with Aging Partners for part‑time use of the Hickman Community Center Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The lease runs from Sept. 1, 2026, through Aug. 31, 2028.

Monte Peck of Aging Partners introduced the program and said he manages the rural centers that serve older residents in Hickman and neighboring communities. “We serve ... we ask a suggested contribution of only $5 per meal,” Peck said, describing presentations, a foot care clinic held every other month, occasional live music and off‑site trips for rural participants. He said turnout has increased since he took over management and that meals are prepared at Aging Partners’ Victory Park location and delivered to the center.

Council members asked whether the lease had changed; staff said only the dates were updated compared with prior two‑year leases and that the city attorney had reviewed the agreement. Council discussed eligibility: Peck said the program is primarily for people age 60 and older but that some people with disabilities may qualify for services, and volunteers may attend under a non‑OAA meal provision.

Motion and vote: Councilmember Noren moved to approve the lease; Wagner seconded. The clerk called the roll and the resolution to approve the lease carried by unanimous vote.

Next steps: Aging Partners will continue weekly programming at the community center under the two‑year lease; staff will monitor operations and the council may revisit rental arrangements in future budget cycles.
