Bridge reopened; city staff outline road patches, RRFB and signal plans

Officials reported that the Canongate bridge has reopened after abutment improvements performed by the county. City staff said the road approaches on Canongate Road are the city's responsibility; crews have applied temporary patches while engineering work proceeds to determine whether a mill-and-overlay, full reconstruction, asphalt or concrete resurfacing is appropriate.
Scott said the patches are intended to carry the road through the coming year while the city evaluates longer-term resurfacing options. "Those patches are just to get us through this next year as we work through the engineering piece of Canongate," Scott said.
Staff also reported recent and upcoming traffic-safety installations: an advanced warning signal on Highway 6 (east side of 141st Street) is complete and awaiting activation by the state transportation department, and a rectangular rapid-flashing beacon (RRFB) is planned at 148th and Haywood near the intermediate school. The city is ordering equipment and proceeding through engineering on that installation.
