Council discusses SIG Sauer concerns; staff selects Glock 45 as new issued sidearm

The town also said it will coordinate with the chief to determine replacement cycles and whether weapons are retired only when damaged or on a planned replacement schedule.
Staff emphasized the priority is officer safety and that selection of the Glock 45 follows a review of options; further details on procurement timing and disposition of the current SIG inventory were not finalized at the meeting.
