Diane, a county staff member, said the total for the three projects "came out to, like, $2,090,000," and added, "I think it's capped at 2,000,000, but we asked for it anyhow." She said the county also requested technical assistance money for grant writing and that Stratford Regional Planning has applied to be considered as the grant writer for the application.
Why it matters: the work is aimed at correcting deferred capital needs at a county‑run nursing facility; GO North appears to favor "shovel‑ready" projects and the first round is moving on a tight timeline, staff said.
Commissioners and staff discussed who would prepare a full application if the project advances. Diane said the county has flagged Stratford Regional Planning as a likely external grant writer but that commissioners will make the selection "as soon as we understand what we're selecting." Commissioners emphasized the need to be prepared for the short application window and noted projects should show concrete start dates and readiness to proceed.
The board was advised the GO North application deadline is Sept. 1. Diane and staff said they would forward any additional material requested by the administering agency and return to the board with updates.
