Kevin Howard, director of housing neighborhood programs for Little Rock City, gave a progress report on the Little Rock Microhome Village and led a walkthrough of the community center where unsheltered individuals can receive services.
“We're here today to give you a progress report on the Little Rock Microhome Village,” Howard said, describing the intake area, an open space where residents can eat breakfast and dinner and fellowship with one another. Howard said the community center also houses case management offices that provide wraparound supportive services aimed at placing residents into temporary or permanent supportive housing.
Howard said the broader Microhome Village will include 80 noncongregated units. “As you know, we'll have our 80 non congregated units that'll be located at your back,” he said, and added that staff will work with residents on employment, obtaining identification and other services needed to secure stable housing.
Howard pointed to another on-site case management office and said work was progressing on the facilities. He gave an expected completion window for the project, saying officials are looking to finish by “the mid part of October, no later than November.”
The update focused on on-site services and near-term construction milestones; Howard asked the public to continue following progress at the site. The presentation did not include formal votes or approvals during the remarks, and no funding breakdown or permitting details were provided in the update.
