The Town of Hubbardston Council on Aging finalized dates and logistics for multiple community events, including a yard sale, a Saturday celebration and candidate forums.
Members confirmed a yard sale for the Friday–Sunday weekend identified in discussion as Sept. 25–27 and said they would accept donations and run a boutique table. They also set a candidates night for Aug. 5 (with a second candidates forum scheduled for Oct. 14 ahead of the election) and agreed on light refreshments and timing. For a separate Saturday event, members planned hot-dog varieties, pasta and potato salads, chili, cake and ice cream, and assigned volunteers to prepare and serve specific items; one member emphasized the event will be "rain or shine."
Volunteers agreed to set up displays starting around 2:30 p.m. the day of the event and to staff tables; the board discussed selling raffle tickets donated by a community member during the event despite an earlier board preference against raffles.
Why it matters: These events are fundraising and outreach opportunities for the Council on Aging and provide programming for seniors and the broader community.
The board did not take votes that change policy or budget lines at the meeting; members assigned tasks and committed to follow-up before the events.
