At its Dec. 2 meeting the Sedan City Council approved a $0.80 hourly raise for all city employees effective Jan. 1, 2026. The motion to grant raises was made by Angela Evans and seconded by Janice Fine; the minutes record the motion as carried.
Council president Adam Clark told the meeting that the council had decided not to grant Christmas bonuses this year. The council also approved an amendment to the employee handbook — removing a Christmas Day floating holiday — after a motion from Kathy Miller and a second from Adam Clark; the minutes include a typographical error listing the effective year as “20026,” which the city should correct to 2026 in official records.
On municipal equipment, City Clerk Lana Smith presented a vendor quote to replace the police chief’s fuel pump for $748.91; the council approved the replacement (motion: Adam Clark; second: Kathy Miller). Staff earlier reported that the bucket-truck PTO pump had been ordered and installed based on affirmative email approvals from council members; the council separately approved repairing the bucket truck PTO pump for $2,001.58 (motion: Angela Evans; second: Kathy Miller). The minutes record those motions as carried; they do not include roll-call vote tallies.
Other items recorded in the minutes included a request from local business owner Joshua Elliot of Main Street Auto, who said he had provided temporary tires to a patrol vehicle without billing the city and urged the council to solicit competitive bids for vehicle work.
The meeting adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
