Sedan council tables City Hall roof bids pending new insurance adjuster; approves $4,200 CIC training and hears request from C & L Tires

The Sedan City Council on Nov. 18 tabled consideration of three bids for a new City Hall roof and asked the city’s insurance company to send another adjuster after contractors reported hail damage and the original adjuster found none.

City Clerk Lana Smith told the council that all three contractors identified hail damage; the insurer’s adjuster had not. The council requested that the insurer send a different adjuster to re-inspect the roof claims and Kathy Miller moved to table the bids until the next meeting; Angela Evans seconded and the motion carried.

Treasurer Raven Darnall presented the October financial report to the council; the minutes record the report as received with no additional action.

Clerk Lana Smith requested in-house year-end training from CIC for $4,200 plus miscellaneous expenses; Kathy Miller moved to accept the site training consulting for $4,200 plus expenses, seconded by Angela Evans, and the motion carried.

Curtis Hubert addressed the council under an agenda request asking the city to consider doing business with C & L Tires after he learned the city did not currently do business with his business. The council added the request to the agenda earlier in the meeting and heard his remarks; no formal procurement decision was recorded.

The council also reviewed sections G through O of the employee handbook and voted to table final approval until the next meeting. The session ended with a motion to adjourn at 6:20 p.m.
