SEDAN, Sept. 3, 2024 — The Sedan City Council voted to exceed the revenue neutral rate and adopted Resolution #24-03 during a brief hearing at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Bryan Blankinship presiding. Councilmember Adam Clark moved to exceed the rate and adopt the resolution; Janice Fine seconded. A roll-call vote was recorded as all in favor; Kathy Miller did not vote because she was absent.
Minutes show the council opened a public budget hearing immediately afterward and, with no public comment, approved the 2025 budget. Sharon Payne moved to approve the budget and Angela Evans seconded; the motion carried when the council voted to adopt it.
The council also approved routine business items before adjourning. Janice Fine moved to approve the minutes of the Aug. 20 regular meeting and Angela Evans seconded; Sharon Payne moved to approve the minutes of the Aug. 26 special meeting and Adam Clark seconded; both motions carried. Angela Evans moved to approve payment of the bills totaling $161,782.80; Sharon Payne seconded and the motion carried.
No public speakers voiced opposition or requested changes to the budget or the revenue neutral rate during the hearings, and both hearings were closed within minutes.
The council adjourned at 5:48 p.m.; the minutes do not record additional follow-up items tied to the budget or Resolution #24-03.
