Colleen Locke sworn as board president; board elects Ryan as vice president

The Lake Placid Central School District board completed its organizational business on Tuesday evening, swearing in newly elected members and electing its officers.
After the district clerk administered the oath of office to newly elected members, the board held nominations for president. Colleen Locke accepted the presidency and was sworn in following a voice vote recorded as six in favor and one abstention. During the oath she stated, “I, Colleen Locke, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as president of the board of education according to the best of my ability.”
The board then nominated and elected a vice president (Ryan). The motion to elect the vice president carried with a recorded voice vote of six yes and one abstention; the newly elected vice president subsequently took the oath.
Board members discussed committee assignments, negotiating-team participation for an upcoming teachers’ contract and the board’s annual goals and self-evaluation process. The next regular meeting was scheduled for Aug. 11 and the meeting adjourned at about 6:05 p.m.
