Lake Placid school board hears annual safety-plan update; no public comments received

Lake Placid Central School District officials opened a public hearing to review the district’s annual safety plan and reported no comments were received during the 30-day public comment period.
The superintendent told the board the district’s safety team — composed of district personnel and law-enforcement representatives — met in June to review the plan. He said recent revisions include annualized identification of AED device locations and training requirements for staff and students, and a newly added after-school annex that spells out protocols and contact information for activities or facility rentals that take place after school hours.
The superintendent also described updated language addressing classroom heat mitigation, noting New York State Education Department guidance now recommends rather than requires specific actions when temperatures exceed prior thresholds. He said the elementary school is largely air conditioned but the middle-high school and the elementary cafeteria have areas of concern that staff continue to monitor.
District clerk Karen confirmed that no emails or written comments were received during the 30-day comment period. “There were none received,” she said.
With no public questions or comments, the board closed the safety-plan hearing and moved on to the next scheduled hearing.
