Votes at a glance: ambulance lease authorized, library and coordinator job descriptions approved, donor signage allowed

At its July 13 meeting the Board of Selectmen recorded several formal actions:

• Ambulance lease: The board authorized the town manager, subject to final legal review, to execute a lease for a new ambulance to be leased to the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association for a five‑year term (placement into service or 175,000 miles, whichever occurs first). Board members said final invoices and any additional equipment costs will be reported to the board. The motion carried by voice vote.

• Deputy library director (head of children’s services): The board approved revisions to the job description that formally reclassify the head of children’s services as deputy library director/head of children’s services; members noted the role is funded in the FY27 budget and does not add a new headcount.

• Business and career center coordinator: The board approved a revised part‑time business and career center coordinator job description and removed sustainability responsibilities from that position; the personnel subcommittee had reviewed earlier iterations.

• Library donor signage: The board voted to permit identification of the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation partnership at the Simsbury Public Library under library policy; board discussion clarified the signage would follow policy limits on permanence and installation. The vote to allow the identification carried 4–1.

All items passed with majority support; the ambulance lease and job description approvals were noted as subject to final legal review or standard personnel implementation steps as appropriate.
