Saginaw libraries welcome new director; summer programs continue

The Saginaw library board introduced Johanna Orianna Cabrera as the system’s new director, board member Diane Clark told the council.
Clark said Ms. Cabrera started in the role today and highlighted her bilingual executive leadership and more than a decade of library experience, including branch management across multiple branches in Arlington, Texas. Clark said the Texas Library Association named Ms. Cabrera a TLA awardee in 2023.
Clark also reported the summer reading program is underway through Aug. 1 with incentives for children and adults, listed upcoming activities such as toddler story time and family movies, and reminded patrons about the library’s 'Library of Things' collection of rentable items.
Council members thanked library staff and welcomed the new director. Staff and council encouraged residents to check branch schedules and resources and to pick up program handouts distributed by the library.
