Vernon County health officer flags preparedness deadlines, EHR change and disease monitoring

Amy Kleiber, Vernon County Health Officer, briefed the Board of Health on several preparedness and operational items. Kleiber said contract deliverables are due by June 30, 2026 and that the department’s fiscal year starts July 1, 2026. She reported that a regional Health Emergency Response Coalition (HERC) meeting took place June 4 and that a Medical Surge Response Exercise (MRSE) on June 5 focused on severe-weather response.
Kleiber told the board that the state will be purchasing EPIC as a statewide electronic health record and that contract reporting will shift from the former GAC system to DART (DPH Application and Reporting Tool) for fiscal and contracting purposes. She said the department will complete a public-health workforce assessment this month and that the department will use the Mysidewalk platform with United Way to collect local and collaborative seven-county data.
On infectious disease monitoring, Kleiber reported that the Department of Health Services continues to monitor Ebola response activity and also remains attentive to hantavirus and measles. She also noted the vaccine-coalition billboards that will be displayed countywide June 21–Aug. 3 as part of outreach.
The board discussed these operational and reporting changes as informational items; the minutes do not record a formal vote or directive tied to the EPIC acquisition or the reporting-tool transition.
