Trustees approve disposal of Kubota tractor and purchases for Fire Dept. equipment

At the June 10 meeting Soldier Township trustees approved several equipment actions for the road and fire departments.
Road Superintendent John Tipton asked the board to dispose of a Kubota tractor on Purplewave because repair costs exceeded its value. Clerk Mike Mathes moved to dispose of the tractor 'as is'; Treasurer Jerry Glasgow seconded and the motion carried.
Fire Chief Chad Lady presented bids for tires and for a cardiac monitor/defibrillator unit (Lifepak 15) to equip Rescue 71. Trustees accepted Pomp’s Tire’s bid for Bridgestone tires for Tanker 71 and authorized purchase of the Lifepak 15 after motions by Member Glasgow and Member Mathes, with seconds and unanimous approval recorded in the minutes.
Why it matters: the purchases and disposal are routine fleet and emergency‑response management steps intended to maintain equipment readiness and control repair costs. The new Lifepak will outfit Rescue 71 with a current generation cardiac monitor/defibrillator.
