Woolwich Committee adopts consent agenda, tables police shared-services terminations and handles routine business

At its Oct. 21 meeting the Woolwich Township Committee approved a consent agenda covering resolutions R-2024-266 through R-2024-275, with R-2024-272 (Garwin Road engineering) removed for separate discussion and adoption. The motion to adopt the consent agenda with that exception passed on a 4-0 roll call.
After executive session, the committee moved to table R-2024-277 (terminating the shared-services agreement with South Harrison for police services) and R-2024-278 (terminating the shared-services agreement with Swedesboro for police services); both motions to table passed on 4-0 roll calls. Mayor Matthias read R-2024-276 to enter closed session for contractual matters (PILOT Ferber and police matters) and personnel (hiring); the committee entered executive session at 7:36 p.m. and resumed at 8:54 p.m.
Other business recorded in the minutes: the committee adopted R-2024-279 to appoint Robert Schmid as Zoning Officer (salary $40,000 prorated through 2024, start Nov. 4); R-2024-280 (Code Enforcement Officer appointment) was tabled; Ordinance 2024-22 (long-term tax exemption for Oak Grove Road Woolwich, LLC under N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1 et seq.) was tabled to allow more time for review. The committee approved minutes for Sept. 16 and Oct. 7 (with two minor corrections to the Sept. 16 minutes) and approved bills and purchase orders; the meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m.
A resident from 10 Wilshire Blvd. expressed concern during public comment about who would run the township between the Dec. 30 close-out meeting and the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting; the committee had scheduled those meetings during the session.
