Woolwich appoints Robert Schmid as zoning officer; salary ordinance updated to add code-enforcement range

The Woolwich Township Committee adopted Resolution R-2024-279 on Oct. 21 to appoint Robert Schmid as Zoning Officer with a salary set at $40,000 prorated through Dec. 31, 2024, and an official start date of Nov. 4, 2024. Committeeman Frederick asked that the resolution be updated to include the salary, prorated term, a start date of Nov. 4 and a third whereas stating the requirement to obtain zoning certification when mandated by the State of New Jersey; the committee recorded those changes in the adopted resolution.
At the same meeting the committee introduced Ordinance 2024-21, which Mayor Matthias described as a comprehensive salary ordinance update that includes a salary range for a newly created code enforcement officer position. Administrator Jim Watson told the committee the salary range for the new position was determined after consulting the current zoning officer and the Uniform Construction Code official.
A separate resolution to make an appointment to the Code Enforcement Officer position (R-2024-280) was moved and tabled by the committee on a 4-0 roll call; no appointment was made at this meeting.
The minutes record roll-call approvals where noted; the appointment of Robert Schmid passed 4-0.
