Tempe School District governing board President called the July 15, 2026 meeting to order at 7 p.m. and the board approved the published agenda and consent items. Jim, a board member, moved to approve the agenda; the motion was seconded and carried.
The board then voted to approve and modify the minutes from the June 24, 2026 governing board meeting. A board member identified they had been absent from the June 24 session and abstained from that vote. The board also approved a modification of the June 24 executive session minutes.
During board information, Jim said he attended the district's new staff orientation and thanked TEA and a local donor, Landings Credit Union, for supporting the event and staff mentoring. Board President praised staff mentoring and the increased continuity among teachers since she joined the board, and thanked Brittany for organizing the board retreat. The president said the district is focused on student growth under Driscoll and expressed optimism for the coming year.
The president announced a donation of 19 trees to Frank Elementary School and remarked, "Trees matter," thanking donors for their contribution. The board reminded families that "Meet the Teacher" events will be held Monday, July 20, 2026 (5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for elementary K–5 and K–8; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for middle schools) and reiterated that the first day of school is Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The president encouraged families who need help enrolling or arranging services to contact the district office.
The board scheduled an agenda committee meeting for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. and noted the next regular governing board meeting will be Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 7 p.m. A motion to adjourn was made and the meeting ended shortly after 7 p.m.
Votes at a glance: the agenda, consent agenda, modifications to regular and executive session minutes, and the adjournment motion were approved; one board member announced an abstention on the June 24 minutes vote. No public comments were submitted during the open call to the public.
The board meeting lasted under an hour and focused on routine approvals, community engagement, and logistical announcements for the start of the school year.
