Smith Center council approves computer upgrades, schedules software vendor and pays off sewer loan

City Clerk Brittany Niles presented a bid from Kroeger Enterprises LLC to update two office desktop computers. Council member Ty Wallgren moved to accept the Kroeger bid in the amount of $2,304.00; Don Wick seconded and the motion carried. Niles and Melissa Colby also presented a sales bid from EdmondsGov Tech for software; the council asked EdmondsGov Tech to attend a future meeting to answer additional questions and directed Niles to schedule that presentation.
With the May 25 council meeting falling on Memorial Day, the council agreed by general consensus to cancel the May 25 meeting and reconvene June 8, 2026. On finance, Chris Cole moved to pay $15,953.61 to the Kansas Water Office to satisfy the initial sewer loan (the minutes note the original loan had principal forgiveness that did not include interest and engineering fees); Don Wick seconded and the motion carried.
The minutes do not include contract terms for the computer upgrade or the EdmondsGov Tech proposal, nor do they list exact timelines for the software vendor visit.
