Pool bathhouse repairs and lifeguard shortages could limit Smith Center pool hours this summer

Councilmember Don Wick said there remains a substantial amount of shopping and work to complete before the pool can open for the 2026 season and that limited lifeguard availability may reduce operational days and hours. The council agreed it would request a formal bid from Center Construction to determine the scope and cost of the bathhouse repairs.
Staff will return with bids and more detailed timelines for repairs and staffing; the council did not take immediate action beyond directing staff to solicit estimates.
