Solomon pool to open May 24; council approves conditional hiring of lifeguards

The Solomon City Council heard pool operations plans and approved staffing for the 2025 season at its May 5 meeting.
Pool representative Stacey Zerbe told the council the pool’s opening day is scheduled for May 24 (Memorial Weekend) and the planned closing date is Aug. 10, with hopes to extend weekend hours through Labor Day. Zerbe said 9–10 lifeguards are expected to staff the season and the pool will host a swim meet May 31. Twin Valley will bore lines and set up a phone line and staff discussed potential Wi‑Fi equipment locations.
On a motion by Councilmember Jennifer Cross, seconded by Councilmember Brian Duryea, council approved ten summer pool staff applications contingent on successful lifeguard certification; the vote was 4-0. The council noted there are no changes to admission prices or staff wages for 2025.
