City staff and consultant CES reported May 5 that the city’s water-meter replacement project remains on schedule. CES representatives said they are finalizing drawings and gathering the necessary data so the project can be advertised this fall, with construction expected to begin in late winter or early spring 2026.
Public Works Director Dan Britt told the council staff had completed an evaluation of every meter pit and had worked with staff (named only as Jim in the meeting) on large-diameter meters for an automatic reading system. No contract values or contractor names were provided during the report.
Council did not take a formal vote on the meter design at the meeting; staff said they remain on track to proceed to advertisement later this year.
