Board member Mark Graber made the motion to approve the handbook change; Jerry DeWeese seconded. The motion carried 6-0. The board did not expand on the policy language in the public portion of the meeting; minutes record that the change was approved "as presented."
Superintendent Becca Flowers presented other informational items at the meeting, including a KSDE audit update and staff and family survey results; those items were noted but not tied to the cell phone policy vote. The board scheduled an administrative/BOE work session for March 10, 2025, where additional operational topics could be discussed.
The board will implement the new policy on March 24, 2025. No appeals or amendments to the policy were recorded in the minutes of the Feb. 10 meeting.
