The USD 237 Board of Education approved two student travel requests and authorized district vehicles and fuel cards. Students and a parent presented the Art Club’s planned June 1–5 trip to Chicago (Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Millennium Park, Art Institute). The presenters said they raised $19,000 through fundraisers and requested three suburbans and fuel cards for 17 students and seven chaperones. Board Member Libby McDonald moved to approve the request; Adam Rentschler seconded and the motion passed 7-0.
In a separate item, teacher and student presenters described the Chansonaires trip to Branson (March 15–18) with performances at Dolly Parton’s Stampede, the Titanic Museum and the Six Show. The group requested four suburbans and fuel cards for 22 students and ten sponsors; Joe Wiehl moved to approve, Adam Rentschler seconded, and the motion passed 7-0. Several student presenters left the meeting after their items were approved.
