St. George reports $100,000 fire rescue goal met; Tank Hill gets $33,116 in CIP funding

St. George — At the Dec. 12 council meeting town staff said the Fire Department has reached its $100,000 target for a new rescue vehicle and will bring finalized specifications back to council before seeking competitive bids.
Manager Danny Conway told council that the Tank Hill project has been approved for CIP funding of $33,116. Work on Tank Hill is deferred until spring because it is too late in the season to start construction; barricades are in place for winter. Conway also reported that Tract Consulting is finishing a final report and that ACOA has approved $5,000 conditional on its completion; the town will cover a portion of the consultant cost.
Council did not record a separate formal motion for the rescue tender during the public portion of the minutes; councillors said a motion to tender will be required once vehicle specifications are finalized. Tank Hill funding was described as approved in the action report.
