Interim Superintendent Dirk Phillips recommended Christine Pollinger to the board as the next principal for Pascack Hills following a four-round search that considered 37 candidates and included input from administrators, parents, staff and students.
Phillips told the board all teaching positions for the coming school year are filled. He reported a significant decrease in chronic absenteeism: Pascack Valley's rate fell from 10.7% (two years prior) to under 6% last year, and Pascack Hills' rate fell from 19.2% to under 7%.
Phillips also updated the board on facilities projects: a rooftop HVAC unit replacement at Pascack Valley and installation of air conditioning in room 103 at Pascack Hills, both begun over the summer. He said administrators are finalizing scheduling, curriculum updates and district goals, and that the district will send guidance to families in early August on a new 'bell-to-bell' cell phone ban. Phillips said the district has not yet received NJSLA results but expects them before the end of summer so staff can use results to inform instruction.
