St. George council rejects Church Street realignment funding, approves permits and $35,000.95 in payables

Deputy Mayor Andy Tobin moved and Councillor Sharon O'Neill-Parsons seconded Motion #95/24 to install a streetlight at the intersection of Alder Place; Manager Danny Conway was asked to confirm the number of poles because town policy may require two lights if there are four poles. That motion passed unanimously.
The council approved general repair permits 1604 and 1608 (Motion #96/24) and building permits 1605, 1606, 1607 and 1609 (Motion #97/24). Councillor Joe Blanchard moved Motion #98/24 to approve payables totaling $35,000.95; the measure passed 4-0.
In new business, Deputy Mayor Tobin moved and Councillor O'Neill-Parsons seconded Motion #99/24 to reject the previously approved funding for the Church Street Realignment project (file 17-MCW-25-00076). The motion to reject carried unanimously, effectively pausing that project at this time.
The meeting closed with confirmation of the next council meeting on Dec. 12, 2024 and an adjournment motion (Motion #100/24) that passed 4-0.
