Miner Board approves street contract, multiple appointments and stipend changes

Alderwoman Peggy Holman moved to accept street bid tabulations prepared by Lambert Engineering and award the contract to Apex Paving, and Alderman Brian Bell seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Alderman Brian Bell, Alderwoman Peggy Holman and Alderwoman Beth Keller voting aye; Alderwoman Kay Whitaker was absent. The lowest bid recorded was $113,414.90.
The board also approved a set of personnel actions. By motion, the board appointed Mike Hise as Code Enforcer (Ordinance 1437 / Bill 2025-12) and set that position’s pay to $700 per month; Captain Nathan Rapert was appointed as EMA personnel with the same monthly stipend (Ordinance 1438 / Bill 2025-13). The board approved updating building codes to the 2021 edition and approved a $700 per month pay rate for the building inspector. The City Treasurer’s pay was likewise adjusted to $700 per month. A separate motion to raise the Fire Chief’s pay to $700 per month passed after Alderwoman Beth Keller recorded an abstention on the first count; Mayor Frank Tatum cast the tie-breaking yes vote. The minutes record the mayor breaking the tie and the motion passing.
