Spring Hill Cemetery board approves brochure printing, orders metal flagpole hardware; member resigns

President Larry Sumner called the Spring Hill Cemetery meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at the Civic Center in Spring Hill, Kansas. The board approved routine business, authorized a small outreach print run and approved replacing damaged flagpole parts with metal hardware before adjourning at 7:32 p.m.
Board member Christine Hecke read the January minutes. John Nevius moved to accept the minutes as read and Polly Mahoney seconded; the motion passed 6-0, formally approving the previous meeting's record. Treasurer Joy Rose presented the treasurer's report and an end-of-year summary; Keith Stiles moved to accept the report, Susan Crawford seconded, and the motion passed 6-0.
On old business, Polly Mahoney will finalize a cemetery brochure. After discussion the board voted to print 250 copies; the motion to print (mover: Keith Stiles; second: John Nevius) passed 6-0. The board also noted that dirt work for driveway edging will begin in the spring and that President Sumner identified four trees that need removal and will solicit bids for trimming and removal.
Under new business the board recorded that Marie Haney has resigned her position; no appointment or replacement was announced at the meeting. Sumner also reported plans to replace damaged plastic pieces on the permanent flagpoles with metal hardware. Christine Hecke moved to order the metal hardware; John Nevius seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
Joy Rose moved to adjourn; Susan Crawford seconded. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
