The Stanton County Unified School District No. 452 board reviewed a vendor quote of $475,000 for a new elementary playground and discussed funding options at its Sept. 16 meeting.
Superintendent Trenton Horn presented the DCS estimate, telling the board, “The total of their quote was $475,000.00 with an additional $73,000 for Pour-In-Place rubber.” Board members raised questions about what equipment and surfacing the quote covered and discussed potential grant opportunities to offset costs.
Rather than vote on a contractor or scope, the board agreed to review playground needs in person: it scheduled the district facility tour for Oct. 14 at 4:00 p.m. to examine existing spaces and refine priorities before pursuing grants or bids. The board’s discussion emphasized evaluating equipment needs and available funding before committing to a large capital outlay.
No contract award or funding source was approved at the meeting; board members said they want the October tour to inform whether to pursue grants and how to phase or scope the project.
