Wakefield council approves consent agenda, holds executive session on possible real estate transaction

The Wakefield City Council met in a special session Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the Wakefield City Council Chambers and approved the consent agenda before entering an executive session to discuss a possible real estate transaction.
Mayor James R. Lehmkuhl opened the meeting, confirmed a quorum and noted where the Nebraska Open Meetings Law posting is located in the council chambers. Council Member Brenn moved to approve the consent agenda; Council Member Geiser seconded and the motion passed with Brenn, Dolen, Geiser and Hansen voting aye.
Council Member Dolen then moved at 5:11 p.m. to enter executive session for the purpose of a possible real estate transaction. Council Member Geiser seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes show the council exited executive session and reentered regular session at 5:43 p.m. after which, with no public comments or new business, Council Member Geiser moved to adjourn; Council Member Dolen seconded and the motion carried.
No public comments or substantive policy votes beyond the routine motions were recorded in the minutes. The council announced its next regular meeting for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Wakefield Civic Center.
