7-12 principal reports 225 students; highlights speech-team wins and Educators Rising awards

At the EHC Speech Meet hosted in Wakefield, Weston Miner and Will Benson placed first in Unified Duet; Kinslee Metzler and Sawyer Brudigam placed second in Varsity Duet; Sawyer Brudigam placed second in Varsity Persuasive; and a trio of Ruby Boeckenhauer, Zoe Craig and Mirella Ruvalcaba placed fourth in Varsity Oral Interpretation of Drama. Additional top finishes were reported from LCC, the Wakefield Sweet Meet and Battle Creek meets, including multiple first- and second-place awards in JV and varsity categories.
The principal also reported Educators Rising conference results and national qualifiers: among the listed winners were Cliff and Brinley for an interactive bulletin-board category (JV), Kristalyn Sievers (Creative Lecture JV, first place), Jennifer Cornejo Botello and Vinsel Molina (Inside Our Schools Spanish, varsity, first place), and a range of other top placements across Spanish-language and lesson-planning contests, public service announcement entries and performance categories.
On athletics, the principal said spring practices for high school boys and girls track and for boys golf began March 2, 2026. The first golf meet is scheduled for April 7, 2026, a quadrangular at the Wayne Country Club beginning at 3:30 p.m., featuring LDNE, Pender, Clarkson‑Leigh and Wakefield.
The report covered testing: juniors took a practice ACT on Feb. 26, 2026; the principal noted testing plans for March 24 (ACT for juniors and a Pre‑ACT for sophomores) and STAR testing for grades 7–11 March 30–April 2 covering ELA, SAEBR and math. She also said Mrs. Aguirre and Mrs. Smith completed required ELPA testing for ELL students Feb. 9–20.
Regarding personnel, the principal said teacher evaluations are nearly finished but that scheduling conflicts have delayed completion; she stated she will finish the remaining evaluation meetings and complete the process within the next week.
