At its Oct. 13, 2025 regular meeting, the Cozad Community Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a lease-purchase payment to cover interest on the district's HVAC lease, recorded as $4,646.25. The motion to make the payment was moved by John Peden and seconded by Will Geiger and passed 6-0.
The board also approved the consent agenda, which included minutes, classified resignations and hires, standing reports, the Nutrition Services SNP reimbursement summary, bus route averages, and several staff salary-advancement applications. Michele Starman moved approval of the consent agenda; Stacey Mundell seconded and the vote was 6-0.
Separately, the board approved the general, lunch, activities and depreciation financial reports and monthly expenditures (motion by Stacey Mundell, second by Michele Starman; vote 6-0). In discussing the first fiscal month, Superintendent Dr. Dan Endorf said the September property-tax asking was about $600,000 lower than in prior years, which he attributed to higher receipts from property tax credits and school tax credits that were realized in the spring.
The building financial reports and claims were approved in a separate motion (motion by Michele Starman, second by Will Geiger; vote 6-0). There were no dissenting votes on the evening's financial measures.
Procedural next steps: the board's regular November meeting was noted as scheduled for Nov. 17, 2025.
