Wakefield council replaces 1st and Winter stop sign with yield sign

The Wakefield City Council on Sept. 24 adopted Resolution 9-2025 to replace the stop sign at First (1st) Street and Winter Street with a yield sign for northbound traffic on Winter Street.
Mayor James R. Lehmkuhl opened the special meeting at 5:36 P.M., and Council Member Hansen introduced Resolution 9-2025, saying the change is intended to improve safety at the intersection. Council Member Dolen seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously among members present to approve the resolution (Brenn: aye; Dolen: aye; Hansen: aye; Geiser absent).
The resolution directs replacement of the stop sign on the southwest corner with a yield sign on the southeast corner and states the change will take effect immediately upon placement of the new signs, except as otherwise directed by a peace officer or traffic-control device. The resolution cites the city’s municipal code authority to place traffic-control signs.
The council took the vote as a single, formal action and did not record additional debate. No public comment specific to the traffic sign change was recorded at the meeting. The council adjourned at 5:50 P.M.
