Wausa Public Schools published a budget notice that includes both an amended and an original budget summary and scheduled a public hearing for 6:55 p.m. June 24, 2026, at the district’s Library/Media Center, the district’s clerk/secretary states.
The amended budget summary in the notice lists total disbursements and transfers of $9,188,524 for fiscal year 2025–26 and shows key fund proposals including $5,212,351 in General Fund disbursements and $2,400,000 in Special Building requests. The notice separately presents an original summary that lists total disbursements and transfers of $6,938,524 for 2025–26; both versions list a combined property tax requirement of $3,703,901 (broken down as $294,949 for bond purposes and $3,408,952 for non-bond purposes).
The public notice, titled "NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING AND BUDGET SUMMARY (AMENDED)," says the governing body will meet to hear "support, opposition, criticism, suggestions or observations of taxpayers relating to the following proposed budget and to consider amendments relative thereto." It cites Nebraska Statute Sections 13-501 to 13-513 and instructs that the budget detail "is available at the office of the Clerk/Secretary during regular business hours." The notice also directs readers to the state education site for comparative data: https://nep.education.ne.gov.
Differences between the two published summaries are material in some line items. Among the larger variances, the amended summary shows Special Building expenditures of $2,400,000 for 2025–26 while the other summary lists $250,000; Activities are listed as $360,000 in one version and $260,000 in the other. The notice itself does not explain the source of those differences beyond labeling one summary "AMENDED" and the other "ORIGINAL." The district’s clerk/secretary is the office listed as providing the detailed budget for inspection.
The notice also contains an earlier entry titled "NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING AND BUDGET SUMMARY (ORIGINAL)" that records a prior hearing date of 6:55 p.m. Sept. 8, 2025, at the same Library/Media Center. The presence of both an original and an amended notice in the same document indicates the district is publishing both versions and the amended hearing date for additional public review.
The district did not include motions, votes, or other formal actions in the notice; it is a public notice announcing the availability of budget detail and the dates for public hearings. The budget detail and any subsequent amendments or formal actions will be available at the Clerk/Secretary’s office and at the state site listed in the notice.
