Campton Hills board tables PUD zoning amendment after questions about comprehensive plan language

"I was a little concerned with article 1b, where we're kinda taking away the... the kind of requirement that we follow our comp plan," Trustee Therese said, asking why the board was weakening language that historically tied zoning decisions to the comprehensive plan.
A planner/staff speaker answered that the change reflected practice and PZC experience, saying the comprehensive plan "is not a regularly updated document" and the amendment was intended to give the village flexibility when interim zoning changes arise.
Trustee Mike proposed reducing a PUD threshold from 75 acres and 75 dwelling units to 40 acres and 40 units to emphasize open-space goals; other trustees and the planning commission chair indicated support. Several trustees asked staff to draft clearer language so the ordinance would not appear to eliminate concept-plan submittals but to clarify when submission is encouraged.
Trustee Therese moved to table the ordinance to allow staff and counsel to incorporate edits; the board voted to table the item and directed staff to circulate revised language for review before the next meeting.
