The Dearborn Heights City Council moved into a closed session during its July 14 special meeting to discuss two legal claims the city has received. A councilmember motioned that the council meet in closed session at 5:19 p.m. to discuss the legal case of Adrian Chestnut (claim no. 2600105) and the legal case of Ravi Hazar Hajazi (claim no. 2611681).
The motion, as stated during the meeting, specified that attendees should include the city council, the mayor, the city clerk, the mayor’s chief of staff, the corporation counsel and the assistant corporation counsel. A roll call was held; each called member responded in the affirmative and the motion carried.
Council members did not discuss the substance of the claims in open session; the stated purpose was to consult with counsel and consider the two named claims in closed session.
The council recessed to closed session and indicated it would return at 6:00 p.m.
