At the July 13 CEAC meeting, the village’s communications/events lead, identified in the meeting as Richie, summarized recent outreach efforts and the summer events calendar.
Richie said the village launched a verified TikTok account and reported ‘‘we're already up to 279 followers’’ and that some posts have garnered nearly 2,000 views. The communications team plans short video content—’Minute with the Mayor’ clips and trustee spotlights—to highlight municipal services and local businesses.
On platform management, Richie said the village will continue to use Discover Bartlett (an economic development Instagram) to spotlight businesses while the main Village of Bartlett pages carry broader event information; staff cited Facebook’s filtering and the village’s social‑media policy that explains the pages are not monitored 24/7.
Richie also described upgrades to the Bartlett Connect app and a more event‑focused calendar that will feed app notifications. The communications update included a list of upcoming public events: a blood drive at Village Hall, Rhythm and Roots (Latin night), a museum lecture featuring Terry Lynch, a police roll‑call/backpack giveaway, the Lake Street corridor open house (the master‑plan public meeting) and other summer festivals.
During new business the chamber representative announced that the Bartlett Chamber will have a new executive director who starts Aug. 27; the representative said his first name is Mark and that a bio and press release will follow.
On moderation and public comments, Richie noted Facebook and TikTok comment moderation tools but stressed First Amendment limits on deleting public comments; staff monitor pages and escalate issues to police or to Christy Stone’s team when appropriate.
The communications portion of the meeting concluded with staff asking commissioners to share event pages to increase reach and to encourage attendance at the Lake Street open house next Wednesday from 7–9 p.m.
