Silver Creek supervisors confirm leadership roles, raise pay for maintenance and authorize job postings

The board approved motions to appoint Mike Helman as chairman and designate Supervisor Geyen as road boss; the motion (moved by Ryan Nelson, seconded by Andy Christensen) carried with a 3-0 vote and Chair Helman recorded an abstention. The board kept current committee assignments and retained a twice‑monthly meeting schedule; it set the township cleanup day for May 2, 2026.
On compensation, the board approved a motion (Nelson/Christensen) to set monthly pay for the chairman and road boss at $600; that motion recorded a 3-0 vote with Helman abstaining. A separate motion (Christensen/Forsman) raised maintenance pay to $38 per hour and increased part‑time plowing pay to $35 per hour (otherwise $30 per hour); the latter motion carried 4-0.
The board reviewed staffing and administrative items: it received two full‑time maintenance applications and none for clerk/treasurer. By motion (Nelson/Forsman) it authorized posting the open positions on Indeed and allowed up to $500 per posting. The board also instructed the treasurer to pay an overdue IRS balance (motion carried 4-0).
Maintenance reported that a 2023 John Deere tractor purchased from MN Equipment should arrive within the next week and that crews completed deicing after recent freezing rain; the board commended the maintenance work.
The meeting adjourned at 9:17 p.m. after a motion by Supervisor Nelson and a second by Supervisor Christensen; the motion carried 4-0.
