Superintendent reports on negotiations, SIS review, accreditation and storm repairs

Superintendent Ryan Terwilliger briefed the Malcolm Public Schools Board on a range of administrative and operational matters at the Oct. 20 meeting.
Terwilliger said the district is considering possible dates for teaching staff negotiations and that work on the evaluation tool will continue during a Nov. 5 work session. He reported a potential change in the district's Student Information System is under consideration and that the administration will provide more information before any implementation decision.
The superintendent also reported an upcoming accreditation review and gave an update on storm damage repair progress and Westfall gym matters. Terwilliger noted the annual audit was conducted Oct. 1.
Jr./Sr. High Principal Simon Wiedel reported school events including a career fair and mock interviews organized this week; Westfall Principal Amber Dolliver submitted her October report to the board as well. A community member, Mrs. Kim Watson, asked about community service graduation requirements; Terwilliger said it was previously part of Civics classes but is not currently a graduation requirement and Mrs. Watson will collect information on other districts' requirements.
Board members did not take action on the Strategic Plan review at this meeting; several administrative items were set for follow up at committee or work sessions.
