Manley trustees announce community pantry, playground shade plans and table fiberoptic decision

At its June 10 meeting the Village of Manley announced several community-service updates: the launch of a confidential community pantry and little free library, a recommendation to hire a contractor to install playground shade, and a tabled decision on fiberoptic proposals for the firehall.
Clerk Jessi Johnson said the community pantry and little free library will be located in the community center basement and that the village is partnering with Tabitha's Thread for resources. Johnson emphasized confidentiality and placement inside the building to limit vandalism.
Mickey Dalton, after reviewing the playground-shade installation guide, recommended the village hire a contractor to do the work. Rebecca Goble provided grant information and updates supporting the shade project. Trustees agreed to consider contractor bids.
On fiberoptic service for the Manley Firehall, the clerk presented two proposals and a discussion followed about whether one or two phone numbers were needed; trustees tabled the item to the next meeting. Trustees also briefly discussed whether to regulate shipping containers in town; no ordinance or resolution was adopted.
The board asked Denise Swenson to reach out to local candidates concerning Miss Manley and recorded upcoming community center rental dates. The pantry and shade project will move forward administratively and be reported at future meetings.
