Clearwater Township requested that Silver Creek pay half the cost to chip seal 0.7 miles of Elder Avenue and 0.5 miles of 162nd Avenue near the Mississippi Oaks Addition. The board approved the request on a motion by Chairman Mike Helman, seconded by Supervisor Andy Christensen, and directed maintenance (C. Klein) to discuss cost and project options with Clearwater.
Separately, Marty Posthumus, representing the Monticello Trailblazers, asked the board for a township signature or letter to permit use of township right-of-way as shown on the current state snowmobile trail map. The board approved signing the landowner permit as provided by the association (motion by Supervisor Andy Christensen, seconded by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen). Board members discussed whether the state trail system’s insurance would cover the township for third-party use of the right-of-way.
Next steps: maintenance staff to pursue cost estimates and project options with Clearwater; the signed landowner permit will be provided to the Trailblazers.
