The Silver Creek Township Board voted Feb. 17 to add newly hired Clerk-Treasurer Johann Massmann to township bank accounts, remove Nancy B, and authorize Massmann to obtain a township credit card per the employee handbook.
The board approved disbursements totaling $15,603.20 and payroll claims totaling $8,561.27. The audit of claims listed check numbers 19781, 19784, 19788 and 19791. A separate motion directed the interim clerk to provide two weeks of hands‑on training to Massmann and remain available by phone.
Board members also discussed that the CTAS accounting books for 2024 and 2025 had not been closed and that reports did not match audits. The minutes record discussion about whether to hire a township accountant to close the years (estimated cost approximately $350 per hour). Massmann will review the records and recommend a course of action at the next meeting.
Staffing items noted in the minutes: the maintenance position received 29 applicants, about 15 were chosen for further review, and several individuals were invited to potential interviews.
Next steps: Massmann to review CTAS records and recommend any accounting or remedial actions at the next board meeting.
