Multiple Eatonville residents used the CRA meeting—s public-comment period to press the board for financial transparency and documentation of vendor payments.
One public commenter told the board the CRA will return about $1.5 million to the town this year and asked why contracts and payments above $7,500 lacked board resolutions. "If the CRA can just return unspent money to the town as a rebate anyway, there's no urgency to actually deploy it," the commenter said, and asked for project records and procurement documentation.
Other commenters requested six months of receipts, copies of contracts (several named vendors appeared in the agency—s spending notes) and a detailed accounting of travel and subscription reimbursements. A resident noted repeated vendor payments to Garcia Media Group and a $19,000 payment to Classic Home Developers and asked the board for an audit of recent expenditures.
In response, directors asked staff to provide balance sheets, general ledgers and vendor invoices for review. The board agreed to table several agenda items and scheduled a workshop for March 31 to review evaluation forms and administrative documents. One director moved to pause nonessential projects and spending until the board completed a financial review; staff said recurring obligations (grant deliverables, loan payments, software subscriptions and monthly services) must continue, and the motion failed in roll call.
What happens next: staff was asked to provide printed and electronic copies of requested fiscal documentation to directors in advance of the March 31 workshop; the board said it will prioritize review of payments cited by public commenters.
