Anchorage council waives PTA ABC fee, proclaims Arbor Day, and notifies Louisville on setback rule

At its March 9 meeting, the Anchorage City Council unanimously approved three procedural items: waiving an Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license fee for the Anchorage PTA auction scheduled March 6–8, 2026; approving a proclamation declaring March 18, 2026, as Arbor Day in Anchorage; and adopting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to notify Louisville Metro that Anchorage excludes Land Development Code Section 9.2(P).

Council Member Patrick McMahon moved to waive the ABC license fee for the PTA auction; Karin Tyrer seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Council Member Karin Tyrer moved for the Mayor to proclaim Arbor Day; McMahon seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

City Administrative Officer Reneé Major explained that Louisville Metro revised its Land Development Code in 2000 and that Section 9.2(P) would allow a detached garage to be located as close as two feet from a side property line if it is at least 15 feet farther to the rear of the lot than the rearmost portion of the main house. Major said Joel Dock of Louisville Planning & Design advised there are no Louisville Metro records showing whether Anchorage previously accepted this revision. Council Member Matt Delehanty moved to accept a resolution authorizing the Mayor to notify Louisville Metro of Anchorage’s intent to exclude Section 9.2(P); the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Major will coordinate sending the resolution to Joel Dock so the Anchorage LDC can be formally updated.

All three items passed on unanimous motions; no amendments or dissent were recorded.
